Creating a Standard Bundle in Burdi

Standard Bundles are the foundation of Burdi Bundles and are designed to help businesses create fast, consistent, and professional quoting systems.

They allow you to combine products, labour, pricing, environments, notes, and profit settings into a single reusable package that your team can use both in the office and out in the field.

Start by Creating a New Bundle

To create a new bundle, simply select:
Create New → Standard Bundle

From there, you’ll begin configuring the bundle step by step.

Select Your Trade and Action

The first step is choosing your trade type, such as:

  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Air Conditioning
  • Other service categories

This helps categorise the bundle and influences the wording generated throughout the quote.

Next, choose the action that best suits the work being completed, such as:

  • Install New
  • Replace
  • Disconnect
  • Remove
  • Investigate
  • Make Safe

The selected action automatically helps generate:

  • Bundle titles
  • Descriptions
  • Bundle codes

All wording can still be customised later to suit your business style.

Categories and Searchability

Bundles can be assigned to one or multiple categories inside the Picture Book.

For example:

  • Air Movement
  • Favourites
  • Switchboards
  • Lighting

This helps technicians quickly find the correct bundles on-site.

You can also add custom search terms or trade slang such as:

  • GPO
  • DGPO
  • Exhaust
  • Fan

These terms improve search speed without affecting what customers see on the quote.

Primary Products and Supporting Materials

The Primary Product is the main item the customer is purchasing.

For example:

  • Exhaust fan
  • Ceiling fan
  • Powerpoint
  • Hot water system

Burdi automatically uses this product to generate bundle information and alerts you if a similar bundle already exists, helping prevent duplicates.

Under the Build tab, you can then add:

  • Supporting materials
  • Cable
  • Consumables
  • Accessories
  • Required products

For example:

  • 10 metres of cable
  • Junction boxes
  • Fixings

These products are automatically included whenever the bundle is used.

Use Environments for Flexible Pricing

One of the most powerful features of Burdi Bundles is Environments.

You can assign a bundle to multiple Environments such as:

  • Residential
  • VIP
  • Commercial

Each Environment can have:

  • Different labour rates
  • Different labour times
  • Different sell pricing
  • Different margins
  • Different contingencies and sundries

For example:

  • A residential exhaust fan install may take one hour
  • A commercial install may take longer due to inductions, access requirements, or site complexity

This allows businesses to price the same service differently depending on the type of customer or job.

Dynamic Pricing or Fixed Pricing

Burdi gives you full flexibility over how your bundle pricing works.

You can choose:

  • Dynamic pricing that adjusts automatically as material costs change
  • Fixed pricing for contracted or locked-rate work
  • Fixed gross profit targets

For example:

  • Residential pricing may remain dynamic
  • Commercial contracts may always stay fixed at a set sell price
  • VIP customers may require a minimum gross profit percentage

This helps businesses maintain control over margins across different customer types.

Add Notes, Warranties, and Exclusions

Standard Bundles also support:

  • Heading notes
  • Footnotes
  • Warranties
  • Exclusions
  • Compliance notes

For example:

  • “Client supplied”
  • “Required for compliance”
  • “Rubbish removal not included”
  • “Electrician may be required”

These notes help reduce confusion, improve communication, and minimise unnecessary phone calls from customers reviewing quotes.

Built for Faster, More Consistent Quoting

Standard Bundles create a repeatable quoting framework that helps businesses:

  • Quote faster
  • Improve pricing consistency
  • Maintain margins
  • Reduce manual entry
  • Deliver more professional quotes

Once built, bundles can be reused across the entire team, helping technicians and office staff quote jobs more efficiently and consistently every time.
