Understanding Environments in Burdi Bundles

One of the most powerful new features in Burdi Bundles is Environments — a smarter way to customise pricing, labour rates, and quoting settings based on different customer types.

Not every customer should be charged the same way. Residential clients, real estate agencies, commercial customers, and long-term loyal clients all come with different costs, expectations, and profit margins. Environments make it easy to tailor your quoting setup to suit each type of work.

An Environment acts like a preset for your jobs. Once selected, it automatically applies key business settings including:

  • Opportunity Cost
  • Labour Rates
  • Product Pricing
  • Contingency Percentages
  • Sundries
  • Connections
  • Passport Bundle Access

Set Your Opportunity Cost

Every job has a cost before work even begins. Burdi allows you to factor in the real cost of acquiring and quoting work through the Opportunity Cost setting.

This can include:

  • Google Ads spend
  • Fuel and travel
  • Time spent quoting
  • Admin costs

For example, a residential lead may cost more to win because you’re competing heavily online, while a real estate customer may have a much lower acquisition cost because you’re already their preferred electrician.

Custom Labour Rates by Customer Type

Each Environment can be linked to a different Service or labour rate structure.

This means you can:

  • Charge premium rates for residential work
  • Use streamlined rates for ongoing maintenance clients
  • Adjust pricing to match the complexity or profitability of different customer groups

Flexible Product Pricing

Burdi also gives you control over product pricing inside each Environment.

You can choose to:

  • Use the standard sell price from your product catalogue
  • Increase product pricing by a percentage
  • Reduce pricing for preferred customers or high-volume work

This flexibility helps ensure your margins stay healthy across different types of jobs.

Contingency & Sundries

Different customers and job types carry different levels of risk.

With Environments, you can customise:

  • Contingency percentages
  • Sundries percentages

For example:

  • Residential work may require a higher contingency due to unknowns
  • Real estate maintenance may need lower contingency because the work is more predictable

Passport Integration

If you’re part of the Passport Membership, Environments can also connect directly to Passport Environments.

This allows you to pull specific Passport Bundles into selected customer types — for example, using Commercial Passport Bundles inside your Real Estate Environment.

Smarter Pricing, Better Control

Environments give you the ability to standardise your quoting process while still tailoring your pricing strategy to different customer types.

Once set up, your team can quote faster, maintain consistent margins, and confidently price work based on real business costs — not guesswork.
