Sale Price Set: Always Vs First Time Only

Sale Price Set: Always Vs First Time Only

Sale Price Set: Always Vs First Time Only

When managing suppliers in Burdi, you may have noticed the Sale Price Set option. This setting determines when Burdi updates the sale price of a product based on your supplier settings.

Many users find this confusing, so let’s break it down step by step.

What Does Sale Price Set Control?

Every time you purchase a product, Burdi will automatically update product information. The Sale Price Set option tells Burdi when it should update the product’s sale price method:

First time only

Burdi will set the sale price only the first time a product is created.  After that, Burdi will never update the sale price automatically, even if you purchase or import the product again. Any manual changes you make to the sale price will be preserved.

Example:
  1. You create a product, and Burdi sets the sale price to Price Range Markup.
  2. Later, you change the price to Burdi RRP + 10%.
  3. If you purchase the product again, the Burdi RRP + 10% price will remain unchanged.

Always

Burdi will update the sale price every time you purchase or import the product using the method you chose within your supplier settings. If you change the sale price manually, those changes can be overwritten the next time the product is imported or ordered.

Example:
  1. You create a product, and Burdi sets the sale price to Price Range Markup.
  2. Later, you change the product's price to Burdi RRP + 10%.
  3. When you import or purchase the product again, Burdi updates the sale price based on your supplier settings, and it might revert back to Price Range Markup (with a newly calculated price).

Which Option Should You Choose?

Choose First time only if you want full control over your sale prices after a product is created. This prevents Burdi from ever overwriting your manual changes.

Choose Always if you want Burdi to keep sale prices automatically updated every time you purchase or import products. This is useful if you rely on consistent supplier-based pricing.

Key Takeaway

The Sale Price Set setting gives you control over how Burdi manages sale prices:

First time only = Your manual changes are never overwritten.

Always = Burdi will keep updating sale prices on every purchase/import.
