Why We Need a Product Price File |
The Passport is designed to save your team time by auto-populating materials and pricing directly into your bundles. But for this to work properly, we need a comprehensive product price file uploaded into your account — ideally with at least 5,000 products.
Here’s why, and how to get what you need from your supplier.
When you purchase a passport, Burdi looks through your products to automatically pull in the relevant materials — item codes, descriptions, unit prices, and more. If only 50 or 100 products are uploaded, many items won’t be matched, and you’ll miss out on the timesaving power of bundles.
We’ve found that 5,000 is the sweet spot for electrical or plumbing suppliers’ top-selling products. This gives you a broad enough range to cover most bundle setups, and is standard practice for our users.
Bundles are what make up your Passport — the central engine behind Burdi’s job automation.
Here’s how it works: Burdi goes through all the products in your account and tries to match them to the products inside each bundle. The more products you have uploaded, the greater your chances of unlocking the majority of those bundles and being able to use them straight away.
Without enough products in your account, many bundles will be incomplete — and you’ll miss out on the full time-saving benefits Burdi was built to deliver.
To ensure bundles work smoothly, your supplier file should be in CSV format, and include:
Product Codes
Descriptions
Unit of Measure
Tax amount
Your Buy Prices
Absolutely! If you work with more than one supplier, you can upload files from each — we’ll combine them to reach that 5,000 product goal. This is a great option if your main supplier can’t provide everything in one go.
Most major suppliers (like Haymans, Middy’s, or Reece) are happy to provide this sort of CSV file — it’s a common request and usually just takes a quick email or phone call. If you’re having trouble, let them know:
“We need a CSV of your top 5,000 products — including product codes, descriptions, tax, and buy price — for use in our Burdi software.”
Once you’ve received the updated CSV file from your supplier, you’ll need to upload it directly into your Burdi account.
We’ve made this super easy — just follow the steps in this guide on how to upload your price file
As soon as the file is uploaded, Burdi will automatically start matching it to the bundles inside your Passport. If the file includes enough products and all the required details, you’ll be able to unlock the full suite of bundles right away.
If you get stuck or have any issues during the upload, feel free to reach out — we’re here to help.
