  Understanding Labour Types in Burdi

Choose the right way to calculate labour costs on your jobs.

Burdi gives you control over how labour is calculated on your jobs. You can choose from:

  • Reported Labour – based on time your staff check in/out
  • Scheduled Labour – based on calendar scheduling
  • Quoted Labour – based on items named "labour" in your quote

🕒 Reported Labour

What it does:
Calculates labour cost based on the actual time your staff spend checked in to a job.

How It Works

  • Staff check in and out using ServiceM8.
  • The system multiplies the check-in time by the staff member’s labour rate (from their ServiceM8 profile).
  • View this via the Job Time button inside the job.

Best For

  • Businesses needing detailed job costing.
  • Teams that reliably check in/out of jobs.

Things to Consider

  • Accuracy depends on staff usage.
  • May not be ideal for quoting if check-in habits are inconsistent.

📅 Scheduled Labour

What it does:
Uses the time allocated in the job schedule to calculate labour cost.

How It Works

  • Burdi calculates labour based on scheduled hours.
  • You can set a default labour rate or define per staff member.
  • If a rate is $0, the default is used instead.

Best For

  • Teams that follow structured schedules.
  • Jobs with predictable labour time.

Things to Consider

  • Doesn’t reflect actual time spent on the job.
  • Great for quoting and forecasting.

🧾 Quoted Labour

What it does:
Uses job items or bundles that include the word "labour" in their name to calculate labour cost.

How It Works

  • All job items with “labour” in the name are summed.
  • This becomes the total labour cost for the job.
  • Works even for items within bundles.

Best For

  • Jobs that use fixed-price labour or prebuilt bundles.
  • Businesses quoting based on service packages.

Things to Consider

  • Item names must include “labour” to be counted.
  • Does not reflect scheduled or actual time.
