Getting Started with Bundles V2 & the Pitcherbook

Welcome to Bundles V2 and the new Pitcherbook! This guide will walk you through everything you need to configure before introducing the new quoting experience to your team.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this guide you'll know how to:

  • Configure your Environments
  • Set up pricing correctly
  • Organise your bundles
  • Use Product Options
  • Add bundle images
  • Create Bundle Kits
  • Configure the Pitcherbook
  • Test everything before going live

Step 1 – Configure Your Environments

One of the biggest improvements in Bundles V2 is the introduction of Environments.

Rather than creating duplicate bundles with different prices, a single bundle can now contain multiple pricing structures depending on the type of work you're quoting.

For example:

  • Residential
  • Commercial
  • Real Estate
  • After Hours
  • Maintenance
  • VIP Customers

Navigate to:

Sales Management → Environments

Here you can create, edit and manage your environments.

ℹ️ Passport Customers

If you've purchased the Burdi Passport, some environments may already exist. These have been generated automatically based on your previous Bundles V1 setup and will already be assigned to your Passport bundles where appropriate. This means most Passport customers can begin quoting immediately with very little configuration.

Configure Each Environment

Each Environment allows you to configure:

  • Environment Name
  • Opportunity Cost
  • Service (labour rate)
  • Product Pricing
  • Contingency
  • Sundries

These settings allow each Environment to have completely different pricing while using exactly the same bundle library.

Reviewing Your Labour Rates

Before using Environments, we recommend reviewing your Labour Rates.

Navigate to:

Sales Management → Labour Rates

Here you can:

  • Create labour rates.
  • Edit existing labour rates.
  • Create Opportunity Cost rates.
  • Update hourly values.

We also recommend ensuring your labour rates include the word "Labour" (for example, Tradesman Labour or Apprentice Labour). This helps Burdi correctly identify labour items for technician reporting.

Choosing Your Product Pricing Method

Each Environment allows you to decide how Burdi calculates your bundle pricing.

Burdi uses the sell price stored against each product to calculate the total bundle value. This is the recommended option for almost all customers and behaves the same way as Bundles V1. If you update a product's sell price, your bundle pricing updates automatically.

Cost Price

Burdi instead uses the cost price of each product. This is useful if you prefer to calculate your selling price using markups or margins rather than maintaining sell prices on individual products.

Step 2 – Review Your Bundles

Navigate to:

Sales Management → Bundles

Bundles V2 introduces a number of new features that can be configured for each bundle. We recommend reviewing your most commonly used bundles and adding:

  • Categories
  • Search Terms
  • Images
  • Recommended Add-ons

These aren't required, but they greatly improve the quoting experience within the Pitcherbook.

Bundle Categories

Categories now exist purely to organise your bundles. Some common examples include:

  • Lighting
  • Fans
  • Switchboards
  • Smoke Alarms
  • Air Conditioning

Many businesses also add the a Favourites category containing their most commonly quoted bundles.

Search Terms

Search Terms make it easier for technicians to locate bundles.

For example, your Install Ceiling Fan bundle could include:

  • Fan
  • Ceiling Fan
  • Install Fan

Typing any of these into the search bar will locate the bundle.

Bundle Images

Each bundle can display an image within the Pitcherbook. Images create a much more professional customer presentation and help customers understand exactly what they're purchasing.

Burdi will attempt to automatically assign a product image where available, but you can upload your own image at any time.

You can also prompt the technician to recommend additional bundles while quoting. This provides technicians with natural upsell opportunities.

ℹ️ Passport Customers: If you've recently changed suppliers, don't forget to run Refresh Passport Product Matching

Step 3 – Explore the New Bundle Types

Bundles V2 introduces three powerful new bundle types. For more information head to https://help.burdi.com.au/portal/en/kb/bundles/bundle-types where you can find video tutorials of each one.

Step 4 – Configure the Pitcherbook

Open the Burdi App from within ServiceM8 and select Settings.

Here you can customise:

  • Company logo
  • Business images
  • Terms & Conditions
  • Quote branding
  • Pitcherbook settings

You'll also find the Bundle Update Tool, allowing you to apply changes across multiple bundles at once instead of editing each individually.

Step 5 – Test the Customer Experience

Before introducing the new system to your team, create a test quote.

Open any ServiceM8 job and launch the Pitcherbook.

Work through the complete quoting process:

  • Select an Environment.
  • Search for bundles.
  • Add bundles to the quote.
  • View Product Options.
  • Review recommended add-ons.
  • Export the quote back to ServiceM8.

This ensures everything has been configured correctly before your technicians begin using it.

You're Ready!

Congratulations! 🎉

Your account is now configured and ready for Bundles V2 and the Pitcherbook.
